Chinese Characters
Sa Halliwell from Facebook was kind enough to look for the Chinese characters of all of the Dark Forces that were captured through out New Trials.
I finally pulled together a list of Chinese characters that can be used for the cards. I have suggestions for all of them except The Wave as that is an original CCS card and I have no idea what the difference between the original CCS card and this dark force card is. It would have been much quicker if I read and write Chinese better, but at least I'm done. I'm also quite picky with translation as I am quite fluent and I get quite annoyed when I know the translation isn't as accurate as I want it. Oh yeah, for anyone who knows Chinese and have other characters in mind that they think better suits the card, feel free to make suggestions.
--------
Arc 1
---------
The Knife: 刀
The Ball: 球
The Haunt: 擾 (as in to haunt or to disturb, I suppose it can be applicable to ghosts or non-ghost hauntings)
The Stone: 石
The Rocky: 岩
The Rope: 繩索
The Twister: 龍捲風 (actual translation is tornado, but it seems to work well enough)
The Stalker: 跟踪 is probably the best one (it means to trace someone’s activity/movement, sounds like stalking to me) 追踪 is a possibility means to track [as in tracking something/someone down], 追近 is another possibility (this literally means to chase closely [in that regard it can mean catch(ing) up], definitely not my 1st choice)
The Explosive: since explosive is an adjective, it would actually translate to 爆炸性, but the noun explosion, 爆炸 (also used as the verb to explode) should be good enough.
The Invisible: 隱形 (literally means to hide shape or form, sounds like invisible to me, both characters needed)
----------
Arc 2
----------
The Joker: perhaps 玩皮? (it literally means playful skin [as in someone within a playful skin])
The Phantom (not sealed in this arc): We can use 幻妖 (this means illusory demon/monster, do you think it’ll do?)
The Unicorn: 独角馬 (apparently official translation of this mythical creature is 獨角獸 “single-horned beast”, but I like 独角馬“single-horned horse” better as a unicorn is more of a horse) The Unicorn (as in the card) is actually more of a horned Pegasus though (a combination of a unicorn and a pegasus, which would be 独角飛馬, but do you think that’s a little too much? Which one do you think would be better?
The Whip: 鞭
The Heal: 療 (to heal)
The Wolf: 狼
The Riddle (not sealed in this arc) (already done: the character is correct)
The Wave (not sealed in this arc)
----------
Arc 3
----------
The Crystal: 晶
(The Phantom)
The Fate: 命運
The Age (already done, the character used is fine)
The Magician: We can use 魔術師 (actually means magician, not the sorcerer/sorceress kind. The translation literally means a person in the TRADE of magic, as in one of those professional performing magicians). Kind of weird though, not too sure what this card is suppose to do.
(The Wave)
The Fantasy (not sealed in this arc): 幻想
The Transform: 轉化
The Obedience: 服從 (to obey)
The Poison: 毒
The Fortune: 算命 (the term means fortune telling, it literally translates to calculating life [as in calculate the things that will happen in life])
The Vengeance (**uncaptured**):復
(The Riddle)
The Plague: 疫
----------
Arc 4 - ongoing
----------
The Decay: 腐
The Metal: 金屬 (should definitely use both characters for this one, just the first character, 金, means gold)
The Memory : 記憶 (first character, 記, only means the verb to remember)
The Veil: 隱藏 (literally means to hide something, using only the second character, 藏, for this is possible, it means to hide, to conceal, to stash [away], to harbor [something],)
The Pride: 自豪 (literally means self glory or grandeur from self, if used the right way though, it can mean to be proud of someone. both characters needed)
(The Fantasy)
The Despair: 絕望 (literally means termination of hope, needed both characters)
The Animate: 活 (as a verb, it actually means to live or come alive, works well enough, I suppose)
The Forge: 鍛造
The Jealousy: 妒忌
The Magnet: 磁
----------
Miscellaneous (not sure if this has to be sealed or not)
----------
The Teleport - (mentioned in Chapter 50 by Eron. Used to teleport Eron/Erika to the Yuki Onna's palace.) 瞬移. The original Move card actually uses the second character, 移, which means to shift or move. The first character, 瞬, means instant, or split-second. The whole phrase is actually 瞬間轉移, which means “instant transfer”, the literal translation is shift/movement within the space of instant/split-second time.
